Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as “View page source” in my browser?
Yes — it shows the HTML the server sends for the page, before any JavaScript runs. Content that a site adds later with JavaScript (common on React or Vue apps) is not in this HTML; the full downloader captures the page after it has loaded.
Can I see the CSS and JavaScript too?
The viewer shows the HTML, which links to the CSS and JavaScript files. To get every file — HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images and fonts — for one page or a whole site, use the Website Downloader.
Why does a site say it refused the request?
Some sites block automated visits with bot protection. The tool can only show pages that answer a normal request.
Is it free?
Yes. The tools on this site are free to use without an account, within a fair-use limit per hour.
Is it legal to look at a site’s source code?
Viewing the HTML a public page sends to every visitor is normal and is exactly what browsers do. Re-using someone else’s design or content is a different matter — only copy what you own or have permission to use.
